More and more organisations are looking to significantly reduce their CO2 emissions or achieve net-zero. The first step to achieving this is to look at energy efficiency, but once you’ve picked any low-hanging fruit you will be left with a level of energy consumption that, ideally, you could supply from an onsite renewable source. But how much renewable energy could your site generate? With Renewables First’s experience in Solar, Wind, Heat pumps and Hydroelectric  we have the knowhow to not only answer this question but also the capability to go on and deliver a fully-integrated system, allowing your organisation to continue doing what it does best, with a clear conscience – we call this service ‘Net-zero Energy Generation’.

Our ‘Net-zero Energy Generation Assessment’ covers:

  • Review of current onsite energy consumption including consideration of future growth.
  • Site visit to understand the site layout and electrical / heating infrastructure.
  • Desktop-based high-level assessments of renewable resources (solar PV, wind, hydro and heat pumps) to give estimates of peak power outputs, annual energy yield and CO2 savings relative to existing systems.
  • Review of energy storage potential and impact on project economics and CO2 savings.
  • Proposal of system specification and site integration overview.
  • Budget costing and financial analysis.
  • Overall CO2 saving analysis.
  • Recommendations and next steps.

The results are presented in a detailed but concise written report and are followed up with an online meeting with one of our experienced engineers, to answer questions and discuss the next steps.

For each viable renewable technology, the next step would be a detailed feasibility study, then the project(s) would follow our standard process through the design and consenting stages, and on to installation. We appreciate that there are a lot of ‘assessments’ and ‘feasibility studies’ at the start of the process and want to emphasise that Renewables First is all about designing and building – but remember that all good quality engineering projects are built on foundations of rigorous feasibility work!

 

Renewables First specialises in renewable energy generation rather than the broader net-zero goals, so we can’t help you with LED lighting, insulation or plans for off-setting emissions, but when it comes down to the engineering services you will need to design and build solar PV systems, wind power systems, hydropower systems, heat pump systems or energy storage systems, then we can help. Please note that Renewables First operates at the ‘good quality’ end of the renewable energy marketplace – by this we mean that we only design high quality systems using good quality hardware. The reason we do this is that from years of experience we have learnt that good quality equipment and design equates to a reliable generating system. We provide whole-project capability, providing everything you need from the initial feasibility work, through the design and consenting stages, then we actually build it and provide ongoing operation and maintenance support.
