Renewables First has won the tender to provide feasibility, outline design and consenting services to Peel Energy’s prestigious Woolston Weir hydropower project. The project, located on the River Mersey / Manchester Ship Canal, has the potential to be the UK’s largest installation of Archimedean Screws. Renewables First’s Managing Director, Phil Davis, said:

We are really happy to win this tender because we were up against all of the main players in the UK hydro industry, and Peel Energy chose us based on our reputation for delivering all project stages from feasibility, through consenting and design and onto installation. The project is exciting not only because it is so large and will be in the public eye, but also because it offers the opportunity to significantly improve fish passage at the site and we look forward to working with the Environment Agency to deliver an exemplar hydropower project”.
