Renewables First wins ICE Awards for prestigious work on hydro

Renewables First has been fortunate enough to win four prestigious Institute of Civil Engineers ICE awards over the last year.  These awards are considered to be the ‘engineering Oscars’ of civil engineering and are fiercely fought over by all of the large national civil engineering companies, so it is testament to the quality and dedication of our staff that we were able to compete with the major players, and win.  These awards also demonstrate the strong relationship we build with our clients which is essential to deliver a high quality, successful project.

We received two West Midlands Institute of Civil Engineering ICE Awards for installing a twin Archimedes screw hydro scheme on the river Avon at Pershore Weir.  For this project we were awarded Sustainability Award 2015 and Project of the Year 2015.

We also picked up the ICE North West Civil Engineering Community Project Award 2015 for our work with Saddleworth Community Hydro. This involved the design and installation of a high head Crossflow turbine at Dove Stone Reservoir, Lancashire, believed to be the first community owned project of its kind.

Most recently we were awarded the ICE South West Civil Engineering Project of the Year 2014 for installation of an Archimedes screw at Buckfast Abbey, Devonshire.
