Residential
Solar PV
Solar photovoltaics (PV) is one of the most common renewable energy technologies, largely because almost any site that the sun can shine on can have it. It is visually unobtrusive, silent in operation, scaleable according to both demand and available space, has no moving parts and requires minimal maintenance. Making it ideal for residential properties wanting their own renewable energy source. Renewables First only provides what we call ‘premium solar’, which means we only specify the most efficient and best-performing equipment from manufacturers with a reputation for quality, long-term reliability and long-term product support.
Our residential solar PV services cover the whole of Gloucestershire along with parts of the neighbouring counties of Bristol, Wiltshire, Swindon, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Get in Touch for a quotation.
Renewables First – building ‘Premium’ Solar solutions
Historically Renewables First has designed and built commercial-scale solar PV projects, but we have repeatedly been asked if we could take on domestic-scale projects for clients who appreciate our focus on high quality systems and want the same principles applied to their own solar PV system at home. The domestic solar PV market is dominated by suppliers competing for the lowest price, which inevitably comes at the cost of quality. What do you do if you want to pay a bit more for a better quality and better-designed solar PV system? Use Renewables First Premium Residential Solar PV service!
What is ‘premium’ solar PV?
It is basically charging a bit more so we can spend sufficient time to design and optimise your system, and then only use top-quality components for the build itself. In practical terms this means higher annual energy production by using more efficient solar PV panels and inverters, plus the inclusion of optimisers for each panel which further maximise the output and mitigate the risk of shadows or soiling from disproportionately reducing the system performance. It also means using higher quality mounting systems, so you have confidence in the long-term durability of the system. It’s just paying a bit more to get a better job done.
We also work with a variety of mounting systems to enable integration into all settings. Roof-integrated mounting systems are the best looking systems for panels on the roof, though we can also do the more conventional on-roof systems that sit about 100 mm above the face of the roof. We can also provide ground-mounted systems, solar car ports and even floating solar PV if you have a lake!

Ready to Take Your PV Project to the Next Level?
Please get in touch – preferably by using our Online Enquiry form but feel free to call as well. We can have an initial look at your site using Google Earth and we’ll arrange to have a call with you to discuss your needs, then will provide a detailed written proposal with budget pricing. If you want to proceed further, we will visit your site to carry out a more detailed survey, then provide a proper quote for the whole project. Once the quote is accepted we can start.
Domestic solar PV projects are relatively quick to implement, with projects often completed within two months of initial enquiry, though can be a bit longer for larger and more complex jobs.
