The results of the Governments Phase 2B Feed-in Tariff review have been announced. The key points are:
|
Technology |
Power output band |
FiT from |
|
Wind |
>100 kW – 500 kW |
17.5 p/kWh |
|
Wind |
>500 kW – 1.5 MW | 9.5 p/kWh |
|
Hydro |
>15 kW – 100 kW |
19.6 p/kWh |
|
Hydro |
>100 kW – 500 kW |
15.5 p/kWh |
| Hydro | >500 kW – 2 MW |
12.1 p/kWh |
The cuts in the wind FiTs were as expected, and it is good to see that the hydro tariffs have stayed the same, or in the case of 100 kW – 500 kW actually gone up to 15.5 p/kWh, which was not expected but shows that the Government have listened to ours and other’s responses to the consultation.
The RPI-link has been kept, which is also welcome.
Pre-accreditation for FiTs will be introduced for projects than have secured all consents and a grid connection offer.
On the downside, annual degression of the tariffs of between 2.5 and 20% will be introduced from 2014, with the amount of degression dependent on how much capacity has been installed up to that date.
